Honor or donate for a special person, family, or organization and beautify Baker Park with a traditional park bench or living tree. If requested, your honoree will receive a letter of appreciation, imprinted with the name of the donor, the location of the gift, and the estimated date of installation. Benches or trees may be given by an individual(s), organizations, or businesses. Donations will be acknowledged in the Friends of Baker Park Newsletter.
Bench (6 foot – $3000 or 8 foot – $3500)
The choice and location of donated items will be from the master plan for Baker Park, created jointly by Friends of Baker Park, Inc., and the City of Frederick. Equipment items will be installed within one year. Trees will be planted in the next fall or spring planting cycle.
Your gift creates a lasting memory, enhances Baker Park and is fully tax-deductible.
Benches are warranted against defects in materials and/or workmanship. According to the DuMor Site Furnishings Standard Warranty, there is also a limited 20-year warranty against structural failure of steel bench frames or complete steel bench assemblies and cast iron bench supports. This warranty does not cover items that have been subject to misuse, neglect, accident, or vandalism. If the bench has to be removed for aesthetic or safety reasons, the donor will be informed and will be given the opportunity to replace the bench at the donation level that is stated in the most current Donation Policy.
Trees will be maintained by the City of Frederick. Trees cannot be replaced as a result of vandalism. All trees will generally be planted between October 15th and the end of April. All trees will be replaced if necessary for up to two (2) years after original planting date. Plaques or markers cannot be placed by trees.
Friends of Baker Park General Fund donations may be for any amount and unless designated by the donor for an approved donation option, will be used for park enhancement projects, which are at the discretion of the Board. Projects include, but are not limited to, capital improvement and routine maintenance, such as the purchase of flowers, shrubs, or ground cover, or the purchase of needed equipment.
It is the policy of Friends of Baker Park to only use “In Honor of” and “In Recognition of” for the recognition plaques on benches and pavilions and in where we mention tree donations. It is also our policy not to put plaques with trees.
